Overview

The student will learn how to install, setup, and configure basic tape anddisk SAN, including the command line interface and file system hierarchy.Recommended Prerequisite General Knowledge: Familiarity with UNIX fundamentals.

Objectives

Upon course completion, students should be able to:

  • Define and explain: What is a Storage Area Network (SAN) and why a SAN is used
  • Describe and discuss Fibre channel and SCSI protocols used in a SAN
  • Install, setup, and configure a basic tape and disk SAN
  • Install, setup and configure hubs, bridges, and switches used in a SAN
  • Discuss Storage Area Networks (SAN) with a customer at a conversational level of knowledge and understand high level SAN marketing issues

PreRequisites

Familiarity with UNIX fundamentals
